Marie Elisabeth
Lüders Haus
The liberal politician Dr Marie-Elisabeth Lüders was a social politician and representative of the women’s movement for the German Democratic Party in 1919/20 as a member of the Constituent Assembly
involved in drafting the Weimar Constitution. In 1920/21 and from 1924 to 1930, she was a member of the German Reichstag. The National Socialists banned her from working and publishing in 1933 and imprisoned her for several months in 1937. After the Second World War, she was a Berlin city councillor for the LDP/FDP in 1948/49 and headed the social welfare department of the Berlin magistrate from 1949 to 1951.
